1. For starters, take the cool little hook that comes with your Showerspecs® and place it as far away as you can from your showerhead. (Don’t worry, it won’t mess with your tiles.) Keep your specs on the hook so you know where to find them.
2. When you’re ready, start your shower. Once your shower starts to create steam, the lenses will fog. Fear not!
3. To activate the anti-fog coating, rub your dry fingers across the inside and outside of the lens, then put the glasses on. It may take one or more wipes of the lens, depending on how much steam is in your bathroom. (In most cases, the lens will clear within 30 seconds and remain clear for as long as you need them.)
4. Check it out!  You can see! You can even read the ingredients in your shampoo if you want! Sodium xylenesulfonate….yeah, you can read that!

Every shower and bathroom is different when it comes to steam, so your Showerspecs® will work differently depending on your conditions. If you have a fan in the bathroom, run it! That will help with the condensation.

Standing directly under your showerhead or submerging your head under water will make Showerspecs® quite ineffective. They eliminate fog from the surface of the lens. They are not goggles.

Are you using Showerspecs® in a hot tub, steam room, or shower that is creating A LOT of steam? You may have to wipe the lenses at least one more time throughout the duration because that coating is working against millions of teeny tiny water molecules. Also, if you are in a hot tub, we’re jealous.

Our testing shows that when your specs are the same temperature as your hot skin and steamy environment, the chemical properties in our anti-fog coating work best. Just place your specs under the water for about 15 seconds once you’ve achieved the desired temperature.

Give your specs some TLC and clean them thoroughly. You may have grease, oils, or debris on the lens surface. See our cleaning tips below!

1. Put them on your face.
2. Go about your day cooking, sipping your favorite hot drink, unloading the dishwasher, wearing a mask (if you’re a healthcare hero) all with crystal clear lenses.

So please,  Do Not: 

• Wipe with your shirt sleeve
• Cover your specs in toothpaste
• Clean with shaving cream, harsh soaps, household cleaners or any other surfactants
• Put your specs in the dishwasher
• Spit on your glasses and use your saliva to clean them
• Use paper towels, napkins, or toilet paper. They will scratch your lenses and smear dirt and oil around.

Do:  

• Use lens cleaning wipes
• Spray an eyeglass cleaner and gently wipe with a microfiber cloth
• Gently run under warm water, let air dry, then polish with a microfiber cloth

Never say never. We are a new company that sells general magnification strength reading glasses. The technology and art of crafting prescription lenses is a methodical and delicate one. When a prescription lens is made, a series of cuts and engravings are made to a lens with a specific curvature. As our small company grows, we will have the ability to put the science of prescription lenses and our unique anti-fog coating to the test.

Anti-fog wipes and sprays are in a category called surfactants, solutions that stay on the surface of the lens and are temporary. Other household products like harsh soaps and shaving cream are also surfactants, but we think they should stay on the shelf.

What makes Showerspecs® and Clearspecs different is our safe anti-fog coating that is applied onto both sides of the lens during manufacturing. This semi-permanent application takes convenience to a new level. Put this technology with a high quality polycarbonate lens, stainless steel hardware, a premium hand polished acetate frame, and you have a new category of reader!

2. Is your vision sometimes blurry?
3. Are you squinting to see tiny print like your smart phone, TV remote, microwave buttons, or face wash ingredients?

If you answered yes to most of these, then we recommend visiting your eye care professional for a comprehensive eye exam. Good eye health is vital to enjoying life. Our frames are made from the highest quality cellulose acetate (it’s plant based!) sourced from an Italian company, Mazzucchelli. It proudly remains a family business since 1849!

We use high quality stainless-steel hinges because they are strong, durable, and water resistant.

The lenses we use are Grade A CR-39 polycarbonate lenses because they are more flexible and cost effective than glass.

We’re proud to use all recyclable/reusable packaging from The Paper Tube Co. We feel good knowing that a portion of our purchase goes to One Tree Planted, a nonprofit working to reforest the globe, and you should too!

If you don’t absolutely love your specs, we offer a 90-day risk-free return policy.

Please email us at info@showerspecs.com with your name, order number, and reason for return and we will start the process by sending you a pre-paid shipping label via email. Once your tracking number becomes active, we will issue a refund. This amount will be reimbursed to the method of payment used during purchase and processing time is dependent upon your financial institution, but generally 5-7 business days.

The product must be returned in new condition with original packaging.

Once your tracking number becomes active, we will fulfill your new order. After 90 days, free shipping will no longer be offered.

We accept all major credit cards.

Showerspecs and Clearspecs come with a 1-year warranty on manufacturing defects in workmanship, materials and coatings. Manufacturing defects do not include normal wear and tear, improper cleaning, or scratched lenses. If you have any questions, please email us at info@showerspecs.com.

Generally, orders ship within 2-3 business days via USPS. If your order is processed Friday after 12pm, it will be fulfilled on Monday. Once the postal carrier picks up your order, you will automatically receive an email with your tracking information. We also offer expedited and overnight options at check out.

We ship to any valid address within the United States including U.S. territories.
